Mouse cardiac MRI: comparison of prospective synchronization using optical and ECG signals with a retrospective technique
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Prospective synchronization on living organisms of MRI acquisitions to reduce the motion artifacts involves the monitoring of both respiratory and heart motions in the thorax and abdominal region. The signal conventionally used to measure cardiac cycle is the electrocardiograph (ECG) signal. Respiratory motion can be derived from low frequency modulation of ECG signal [1]. Because of the weak amplitude of the ECG signal recorded on small animals, to obtain an uncorrupted ECG (RF pulses and gradient switching) is challenging [2-4]. By contrast with ECG, light propagation in thin optical fibers is free of any electromagnetic perturbation. On another hand, retrospective techniques based on navigated-echoes do not require sensors and are well suited with CINE FLASH sequences. In this context, this study aims to compare the prospective techniques of heart beats and breathing monitoring using two types of sensors: (a) modulation of reflected light using optical fibers and (b) ECG with (c) a retrospectives technique. Comparisons were assessed based on mouse cardiac CINE FLASH MRI.

Background: To compare image quality and radiation doses of low kilovolt (kV) “prospective ECG-triggering” (PT) and standard “retrospective ECG-gating” (RG) coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography. Materials and Methods: A total of 101 consecutive patients (76 males, 25 females; mean age: 55.44 ± 8.28 years) with low-to-intermediate risk status for coronary artery disease and with a body ...
متن کاملA new approach to detect Life threatening cardiac arrhythmias using Sequential spectrum of Electrocardiogram signals
This study evaluates the discriminative power of sequential spectrum analysis of the short-term electrocardiogram (ECG) time series in separating normal and subjects with life threatening arrhythmias like, ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation (VT/VF). The raw ECG time series is transformed into a series of binary symbols and the binary occupancy or relative distribution of mono-sequences (i.e. ...
متن کاملEffects of Ecstasy on Mouse Cardiac Histopathology, Electrocardiogram and Blood Cell Counts
Background and Aims: Ecstasy or 3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) is a brain stimulant and a hallucinogenic material prepared by chemical changes in amphetamine. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes induced by this drug in mouse cardiac histopathology, electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood cell counts. Materials and Methods: In this experiment, 3 groups (n=10) of mice were e...
متن کاملContinuous and Cuffless Blood Pressure Monitoring Based on ECG and SpO2 Signals By Using Microsoft Visual C Sharp
Background: One of the main problems especially in operating room and monitoring devices is measurement of Blood Pressure (BP) by sphygmomanometer cuff. Objective: In this study we designed a new method to measure BP changes continuously for detecting information between cuff inflation times by using vital signals in monitoring devices. This will be achieved by extraction of the time difference ...
